Le Marquier Outdoor Kitchens: Why Choose a Stylish, Modular, and Durable French Kitchen?
The outdoor kitchen has become much more than just a place to cook. Today, it’s a true living space for entertaining and socializing. Whether it’s a terrace, garden, patio, or pool house, the French are increasingly investing in durable equipment that can transform their outdoor spaces into a natural extension of their homes.
Among the well-known French brands, Le Marquier is one of the market’s long-standing leaders, manufacturing its products in workshops in the south of France since 2023 using steel designed to resist rust and the elements, ensuring a lasting finish over the years.
Le Marquier has developed a unique philosophy: to design an adaptable, modular outdoor kitchen made in France, crafted to serve its owner for many years to come.
In this article, we analyze the criteria that truly matter when choosing an outdoor kitchen and explain why Le Marquier kitchens are attracting more and more homeowners seeking a sustainable investment.
The Factors That Really Matter for an Outdoor Kitchen
Before comparing the brands available on the market, it’s essential to understand what determines the quality of an outdoor kitchen.
Price is important, but it shouldn’t be the only criterion.
An outdoor kitchen stays outside all year round. It must withstand:
- the elements,
- UV rays,
- temperature fluctuations,
- humidity,
- and sometimes sea air.
It must also remain functional, aesthetically pleasing, and adaptable to your changing needs.
The most important criteria are:
- modularity,
- material quality,
- corrosion resistance,
- manufacturing quality,
- warranties,
- availability of replacement parts,
- integration of appliances,
- scalability.
It is precisely on these aspects that Le Marquier has built its product line.
Modularity that truly changes the way you design your outdoor space
One of the main advantages of Le Marquier kitchens is their fully modular design.
Unlike a fixed set, each element is independent.
You can customize your kitchen with:
- a range cabinet,
- a sink cabinet,
- a refrigerator cabinet,
- storage cabinets,
- corner cabinets,
- countertops,
- back splashes.
This approach offers great flexibility—you aren’t required to invest in a complete kitchen right away.
You can start with a cooking area and then gradually add to your setup.
This is a significant advantage.
A kitchen that evolves with your project
Let’s take an example.
Today, you want to install a griddle and a storage cabinet.
In three years, you’ll add a sink.
In five years, you’ll incorporate a grill or a pizza oven.
With a modular kitchen, this evolution is a natural process. You keep your existing setup, you simply add a new module.
This approach allows you to spread the investment over time.
It also prevents you from having to replace an entire kitchen just to gain a few extra features.
Made in France: A Real Long-Term Advantage
Le Marquier has been manufacturing its products in its workshop in Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx (40), in the Landes region, for over 50 years.
A large portion of its equipment is certified under the “Origine France Garantie” program.
This factor is often underestimated, yet it directly influences:
- the quality of manufacturing,
- the availability of parts,
- the responsiveness of customer service,
- and the product’s durability.
When you invest in a premium outdoor kitchen, you want to be able to use it for many years to come.
Having the manufacturer nearby makes repairs, upgrades, and maintenance easier.
A Long History of Expertise
Le Marquier has a long history of specializing in outdoor cooking equipment, having invented the first vertical-cooking barbecues as early as 1986, followed by the first planchas for home use in 1995.
This expertise is reflected in the design of the kitchens; the furniture is not only aesthetically pleasing but is also designed to accommodate high-performance cooking appliances for the long term.
The ergonomics, work heights, and storage spaces are tailored to real-world use; catering professionals also rely on this expertise to equip the patios and gardens of their establishments.
The Hotel du Palais in Biarritz and Eataly in Paris are among the hospitality industry’s finest examples in this area; they offer their customers barbecue menus on their terraces as soon as the first rays of sunshine appear.
Enhanced corrosion resistance
Corrosion and rust are the number one enemies of outdoor kitchens.
This is especially true in humid or coastal regions, or in areas subject to significant weather fluctuations.
Le Marquier uses, among other materials:
- electrogalvanized steel*,
- epoxy finishes,
- stainless steel components, depending on the model.
(*) Electrogalvanized steel is steel coated with a thin layer of zinc through an electrolytic process. Unlike hot-dip galvanized steel, where the steel is immersed in a bath of molten zinc, electrogalvanizing deposits the zinc using an electric current. This process produces a very smooth, attractive surface that is well-suited for painting, which is particularly relevant for outdoor kitchens.
Electrogalvanized steel provides excellent protection against corrosion.
It offers long-lasting protection against oxidation.
It withstands water splashes well.
It minimizes surface degradation over the course of the seasons.
For homes near the ocean, this characteristic is particularly important; our design office is located less than 5 km from the Atlantic Ocean, which has given us the necessary perspective to test the durability of our products in real-world conditions for several years now.
Modules designed to accommodate a full outdoor kitchen
Much outdoor furniture is designed as garden furniture.
Le Marquier takes a different approach.
The kitchen is conceived as a true culinary space.
The modules are designed to incorporate:
- a plancha,
- a barbecue,
- a pizza oven,
- a sink,
- a refrigerator,
- cooking accessories.
The goal is to create a cohesive space where each piece of equipment naturally finds its place, tailored to your needs. The large sink—much more than just a hand-washing station—allows you to easily wash your food and kitchen utensils (30 cm x 65 cm and 19 cm deep).
Ergonomics Designed for Cooking
The well-thought-out design makes the kitchen easy to use, with very practical details:
- The height of the cabinets—with prep countertops (92 cm high) and cooking cabinets (79 cm high)—allows you to cook without straining your back.
- Moving between areas through small doorways eliminates the need for long strides.
- Access to storage spaces where you can add or remove shelves.
- The proximity between the cooking and prep areas.
All these elements contribute to user comfort; the adjustable legs let you adapt your cabinets to uneven surfaces, and the legs on casters allow you to move your kitchen wherever you like.
A successful outdoor kitchen should let you cook just as you would indoors.
A style that transcends trends
Aesthetics are essential.
But an outdoor kitchen must remain stylish for years to come.
Le Marquier prioritizes a sleek, contemporary design, working closely with Stellantis Design Studio from the initial concept through to the final product.
The lines are clean, the colors are timeless: all-black with a stainless steel finish, or much lighter in Taupe.
The finishes blend seamlessly into:
- a modern patio,
- a Basque-style home,
- a contemporary villa,
- a country house.
This understated style has an advantage: it minimizes the impact of passing trends, ensuring your kitchen remains elegant for many years after installation.
Color matters, and Le Marquier offers three types of finishes:
- Black,
- Taupe,
- Black and stainless steel.
Choose the colors that best suit your surroundings and your personal taste.
A solution that is particularly well-suited for custom projects
All outdoor spaces are different. Some have a small patio, others a large garden, and still others a pool house.
Le Marquier’s modular design allows you to accommodate these different layouts.
You can create:
- a linear kitchen,
- an L-shaped kitchen,
- a U-shaped kitchen,
- a central island,
- a separate cooking area.
This flexibility is particularly valuable for custom design projects.
An investment that retains its value
An outdoor kitchen is a significant investment, so it’s important to consider the total cost—and a modular kitchen retains its value better.
Why?
Because it can be adapted, repaired, expanded, and/or rearranged.
In contrast, a monoblock unit becomes obsolete more quickly.
The ability to add new modules extends the functional lifespan of the setup.
